PRESS: Russian Railways to raise invest in main roads, cut repairs

MOSCOW, May 27 (PRIME) -- The revised 2020 investment program of Russian Railways envisages higher spending on the Baikal–Amur Mainline (BAM) and the Trans–Siberian Railway (Transsib), but lower investment in upgrade of infrastructure, Kommersant business daily reported on Wednesday citing the program.

“Russian Railways has prepared a 2020 investment program, reduced by 200 billion rubles. According to the document, the company will raise financing of construction operations in the East including the BAM and the Transsib, investment in which will double as compared with the previous figures. Repairs and fleet upgrade will lose most, around 143 billion rubles,” the daily reported.

Earlier this week, CEO Oleg Belozyorov told President Vladimir Putin that Russian Railways had reduced its 2020 investment program to 620 billion rubles from 820 billion rubles due to the spread of coronavirus.
